The Raiders tried to catch the Broncos off guard with a fake-punt attempt in Sunday’s game, and it failed miserably.

It was a curious decision, even before the ball was snapped, given that the Raiders had to pick up 11 yards for a first down. But they tried anyway, as Marquette King received the snap and took off running with the football, but he didn’t even manage to get back to the line of scrimmage.

King, visibly frustrated after being tackled, took the football and threw it at Broncos fullback Andy Janovich. The ball hit Janovich in the back, and King was flagged for taunting.

The Raiders probably would’ve been better suited letting King punt, given that he has a strong leg, and was averaging over 53.5 yards per punt heading into Sunday’s game.
