Well for those of us who live in the Northeast the weather for August has felt more like September so far, but the wrestling world continues it's low heat simmer before it boils over by 'SummerSlam' next Sunday night. TNA had a solid Impact broadcast end with Dixie and Bully going through a table, while WWE rolled along but let go of one superstar due to unprofessional conduct.
WWE utilized Monday Night Raw to set up even more of the card for it's biggest event of the summer as 'SummerSlam' emanates again from Los Angeles next Sunday. Its very rare for a contract signing to involve two women but Raw ended with such between Brie Bella and Stephanie McMahon. After the ink dried Triple H used the table to pin Brie in a corner while Stephanie delivered her husband signature finisher the "pedigree" to Nikki Bella. After releasing Brie she suffered the same fate with Raw ending and Stephanie utilizing the chant of Brie's husband Daniel Bryan…"Yes, Yes, Yes!" The biggest news out of WWE this week though was the immediate release of Alberto Del Rio on Thursday due to what WWE.com reported as unprofessional conduct after an altercation with another employee. Some speculation circulated that it was a "work" but he indeed did slap another employee, and will no longer be working for WWE. Also the new logo WWE World Heavyweight Championship belt arrived at WWE headquarters and should debut either at 'SummerSlam' or the following night on Raw.
For TNA however they revealed the final NYC tapings from July on Impact wrestling as the hardcore groups fought each other in the main event of the show. Bully Ray, Devon, Tommy Dreamer and Al Snow (for one night only) beat Ethan Carter III, Rhino, Ryklon and Snitsky. After the match TNA President Dixie Carter was going to have King Mo knock out Bully but he was neutralized after Dixie fired Ryklon and Snitsky. Bully Ray fulfilled his promise for months now that he would put Dixie through a table and that occurred to end the Impact broadcast. Also Samoa Joe emerged victorious from the triple threat X-Division Championship match versus Sanada and Low Ki to become the new champion. Lastly, TNA set up a Women's Knockout Championship fatal four-way for next week as champion Gail Kim will defend against Taryn Terrell, Angelina Love and Velvet Sky.
Lets hope for the sake of TNA that the momentum they just gathered from that one moment having Bully put Dixie through a table can roll all the way to a solid 'Bound for Glory' event in October and possibly lead to Impact remaining on television somehow. Competition is good for business even if it's low caliber.
