Well this past week the wrestling world was rocked by the results from WWE's 'Royal Rumble' but more-so by the fall-out the next night as the absence of CM Punk was felt by the WWE Universe and could be for some time to come. TNA revealed there new "investor" on Impact Thursday night as well.
MVP was the man revealed at the end of Impact on Thursday from Scotland as the new "investor" in TNA Wrestling. What this will mean for TNA is as yet unknown, but it's very likely more of a storyline intro for MVP than any real money being poured into the promotion. Also in the tag-team main event, Samoa Joe made Magnus tap out giving him the number one contender spot to the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, and his partner Kurt Angle retained his job. Angle stated post-match that he will now accept his enshrinement in the TNA Hall of Fame, alongside Sting.
WWE held it's annual 'Royal Rumble' pay-per-view last Sunday with the returning Batista emerging as the winner of the Rumble match and gaining a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event at 'WrestleMania.' Not only were many fans upset that a returning Batista was granted the victory instead of more deserving regular full-time guys like Daniel Bryan or CM Punk, but Punk himself seemed upset enough to tell Vince McMahon that he was returning home to Chicago. Now many plans for 'WrestleMania' are up in the air until WWE knows when or if Punk will return to the ring.
In Ring of Honor on February 8th in San Antonio, Texas the ROH World Champion Adam Cole will finally square-off with the "real world champion" Jay Briscoe. This match should settle things once and for all is to who is the real Ring of Honor World Champion since Briscoe was stripped of the title due to "injury" last July, but never lost the championship in the squared circle.
