As of late Tuesday, it's being reported that WWE Superstar CM Punk told Vince McMahon he was "going home" and got on a plane back to his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. It is unsure why CM Punk is doing this at this time considering he was being slated to face-off with Triple H at 'WrestleMania' on April 6th.
On Sunday at the 'Royal Rumble' pay-per-view event CM Punk was declared the first entrant by Director of Operations Kane and had lasted over 40 minutes until being eliminated by Kane. As the WWE Universe saw during the match Kane had been eliminated early on by Punk and returned when there were about five competitors left to "screw' Punk by pulling him over the top rope and eliminating him from the match. On Monday Night Raw there was no mention of what occurred between Kane and Punk the previous night and CM Punk was not on television during the three hour broadcast. At 'Elimination Chamber' on February 23rd there is supposed to be a match between the two of them but plans for that appear on hold.
CM Punk's contract goes through July with WWE so it is very likely that Punk will return, but the question now is when he will be back. Will Punk decide to remain away just long enough to return to face Kane at 'Elimination Chamber' or will he stay away until just before 'WrestleMania' or possibly even beyond that? The speculation of the WWE Universe and sites like WrestleZone, who reported the story here, will be intense going forward until Punk decides to return. CM Punk was removed from live events as well as future Raw and Smackdown shows for the foreseeable future.
WWE started a program that may have Daniel Bryan face-off with Triple H now at 'WrestleMania' instead of Punk so may be they know something we all do not. Hopefully we will have more info on this story as it becomes available.
