Here we are another week closer to the first pay-per-view event for WWE, 'Royal Rumble' on the road to 'WrestleMania' in April. TNA decided to split there former pay-per-view event 'Genesis' into two parts with the second one coming this Thursday on Impact as the world of pro wrestling/sports entertainment moves ever forward.
TNA presented part one of 'Genesis' this past Thursday night on Impact with the Women's Knockout Championship changing hands to Madison Rayne from Gail Kim, plus Bully Ray defeating Ken Anderson, and Ethan Carter III getting the victory over Sting with some help from guest referee Magnus. Sting was fed up with TNA World Champion Magnus so he challenged him to one more title match. Magnus agreed but added that if Sting loses he's done with TNA. So that match, title versus career, will occur this upcoming Thursday on part two of 'Genesis.' Also on the second part of the card an X-Division title match with Chris Sabin putting the belt up against Austin Aries once more, but this time with Velvet Sky locked in a cage at ringside so Sabin cannot utilize Velvet to interfere and help him win. TNA President Dixie Carter also made news by signing the "American Wolves" (Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards) formerly from ROH to bolster the tag-team ranks.
While WWE did not add any new matches to the card for 'Royal Rumble' it named more entrants into the Rumble match itself in CM Punk, all members of The Shield, Intercontinental Champion Big E Langston, Tag-Team Champions Cody Rhodes and Goldust, Alberto Del Rio and several more. The main event of Monday Night Raw became a steel cage match between The Usos, Bray Wyatt and Daniel Bryan after interference from Luke Harper and Erick Rowan caused a disqualification in there tag match earlier in the night. After Jimmy and Jey got the victory again, Bray whispered again in Bryan's ear and he went to give him his "Sister Abigail" finisher, but Bryan broke free and proceeded to beat down Bray since the cage prevented Harper and Rowan from saving there leader. Daniel Bryan lead a "yes" chant from the top of the cage to end the show. On Smackdown the "New Age Outlaws" defeated the "Brotherhood" of Cody Rhodes and Goldust after walking out on CM Punk versus The Shield on Raw. Now they should be getting a WWE Tag-Team Championship shot, possibly even at the 'Royal Rumble.'
Of course the news of the week was the passing of Mae Young at 90 after being taken off of life support. She was a true pioneer in professional wrestling and will be missed but remembered fondly by all who knew her.
