Here we are at the final week of the year 2013 with WWE giving it's talents time off to spend with there families, since last Monday's Raw and Friday's Smackdown were recorded prior to the holidays, as was "Tribute to the Troops." TNA did the same, having recorded there last Impact broadcast prior to it airing last Thursday.
On Saturday night the WWE presented there annual "Tribute to the Troops" holiday special on NBC. As always it was a solid show were the "faces" got the victories. After another pre-recorded Monday Night Raw special this coming Monday for New Year's 2014, WWE will get back to presenting live Raw shows on January 6th as they build up towards 'Royal Rumble.' The biggest news out of WWE was the now advertised return of "The Animal" Batista for Raw on January 20th, just in time for the Rumble.
TNA held there final Impact of 2013 last Thursday and continued there storylines towards 2014. The biggest of which was Jeff Hardy "leaving" TNA for the foreseeable future as he stated things have to change in order for him to return. It is happening due to yet another unresolved contract in TNA, so Jeff Hardy will still fulfill his obligations such as his match with Abyss at the "One Night Only" #OldSchool event Monday, December 30th at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. On that same card, which will air later on pay-per-view, Magnus will defend his newly won TNA World Heavyweight Championship versus his former tag partner Samoa Joe. There will be a "falls count anywhere" match between Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer, plus Bobby Roode and James Storm will compete in a "last man standing" match. The rest of the card can be found here.
Well that's about all of the major news in the world of sports entertainment/professional wrestling for the final week of 2013. In 2014 we will look to continue to summarize each week in the ever evolving wrestling world, and provide you the best insights in the industry.
