In the past week in the world of sport entertainment/pro wrestling we saw the greatest icon in the history of the sport say "I Quit" as he exited TNA Wrestling, despite what our photo shows, which occurred afterwards. Meanwhile WWE went about setting up the rest of the card for it's 'BattleGround' pay-per-view on Sunday night.
You are so fired @HulkHogan!!!— Dixie Carter (@TNADixie) October 4, 2013
On Thursday Impact broadcast Hulk Hogan gave his answer very succinctly to the TNA President Dixie Carter, after she explained to Hogan how they could be wrestling's biggest power couple, by saying "I Quit." Now that really doesn't mean TNA fans have seen the last of Hogan, since the two sides are still negotiating a new deal that will bring him back on TV. TNA also started to make more matches for it's upcoming 'Bound for Glory' pay-per-view as four top X-Division stars will face off in "Ultimate X" for the title at the event. Manik will defend against Jeff Hardy, Austin Aries and Chris Sabin. We will preview the event just prior to it occurring on Sunday October 20th from the Viejas Arena in San Diego, California.
Tonight WWE will debut a new pay-per-view event entitled 'BattleGround' on which the vacant WWE Championship will be at stake between the last two champions, Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan. While executives at WWE surely don't sweat the competition from TNA they should have some concern over a recent ratings drop for Monday Night Raw that we discussed here, as it was the "go home" show before 'BattleGround.' WWE did use the engagement of Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella during the show on Monday but the real life couples on screen romance didn't amount to any help in the ratings.
Lastly, later this week Family Wrestling Entertainment (FWE) will feature there Openweight Grand Prix at there event on Saturday the 12th in Brooklyn, NY. Ted DiBiase Jr. will make his debut for them, and compete in his first event since departing WWE. Hopefully it will be a successful event and lead to it becoming a regular part of the events FWE holds each year.
Next week we will se how the results of 'BattleGround' reshape the storylines in WWE, and what else TNA has in store for its fans as it rounds out the card for 'Bound for Glory.' As always we will bring you all the latest in the world of wrestling right here.
