On Sunday the WWE introduces the WWE Universe to a new pay-per-view event entitled 'BattleGround.' This is the first of two such events during the month of October as there will be a short turnaround for 'Hell in a Cell' at the end of the month.
The under card matches:
(if Cody & Goldust win they not only become the new Tag Champions but get there jobs back, but if they lose, all three members of the Rhodes family will never work for WWE again)
Honestly torn on the outcome of this match. On the one hand it seems almost a sure thing that The Rhodes brothers win and get their jobs back with WWE in what would no doubt be a very fun and feel good moment. However with Punk beating Ryback and getting a measure of revenge I wonder if we will get two feel good moments on this show. I am going to go outside the box and say that The Rhodes brothers lose this match and Goldust blames it on Cody. After he attacks his brother Goldust is later hired back to the WWE by Triple H and Stephanie for being a man of initiative.
This is definitely the most interesting match of all of the under card matches. The Rhodes family should come away victorious and take the belts off of The Shield, if only for one night. I would expect a rematch on Raw Monday night that allows Reigns and Rollins to regain the gold.
Brie Bella is getting a lot of attention as of late partly due to the fact that she is engaged to the hottest act in WWE right now, Daniel Bryan, but also because she has improved a great deal in the ring. Her winning the title could make for a very interesting episode of Total Divas and the ensuing jealousy from her Total Divas cast mates could make for a compelling Divas division. That being said AJ has just formed a partnership with Tamina and with her new bodyguard it doesn't seem likely AJ will drop the title just yet but Brie may be the woman to take it from her in the future. With some assistance from her new bodyguard look for AJ to retain the Divas
title and continue her reign of the Divas division.
Well this time AJ gets to defend the title one-on-one and while it would be nice to see Brie win, and then later Bryan as well, to form a new "power couple" don't believe it will happen. AJ defends the butterfly title.
Axel could not mean less at this point and that is very depressing considering he is the reigning and defending IC champion. Even though Truth is not particularly hot right now it may make sense for the sake of the title to get it off Axel. With my other pick of Punk beating Ryback I'm expecting Paul Heyman and company to lose and for Heyman to come out on Monday Night and begin a meltdown on national television. Truth beats Axel and becomes the new Intercontinental Champion.
Paul Heyman will be splitting his focus some due to the match of Punk vs Ryback, but it doesn't seem as if R-Truth is going to be the one to take the strap away from Axel.
Kofi Kingston versus Bray Wyatt
Bray Wyatt is amazing. End of story. After his promo on Monday it seems as if Bray is beginning to focus and reveal a purpose a bit at a time. He stated, "they will all fall", and it seems to be starting with Kofi Kingston. Yes it was a weird way for them to get to a match but Bray's character is so strange and cryptic that it almost makes sense for some of his matches to be built in an odd way. A sweet kiss from Sister Abigail and Bray Wyatt gets the win over Kofi Kingston.
This is going to be another easy win for Bray Wyatt as he starts his march up the ladder towards more success and possible title opportunities in 2014.
Kick-Off Match: Dolph Ziggler versus Damien Sandow
With my pick for Damien cashing in later to become the new World Heavyweight Champion it almost seems to doom him to losing his kick-off match. He has lost so much recently that it has really taken a lot of heat off of him but if he does cash in and gets a chance in the spotlight there will be an opportunity for him to gain it all back. Sandow need only look across the ring for an example of winning MITB not always being a good thing for a superstar's career. Dolph has really gone downhill since turning face and doesn't seem to have a real direction. These two will go out there and have a fun match though and look for Dolph to win and get the
crowd excited for the official start of the pay per view.
This one is somewhat interesting since WWE has devalued Ziggler of late, and Sandow sits with a MITB contract to cash in, expect Sandow to win this one.
