Former Knockout Champion Mickie James has finished her run with TNA Wrestling after dropping the title to ODB at the Impact tapings that will air this Thursday on Spike tv. Apparently TNA made James an offer but she refused to take them up on it. There is some interest in whether WWE would be looking to bring Mickie James back to their divas division but that isn't the real issue. The issue is all of the talent that TNA is losing or cutting loose. Just in the knockouts they have lost Tara, Taryn Terrell, Brooke Hogan, Madion Rayne, So Cal Val and Taeler Hendrix within the span of a few months.
At the same time Ken Anderson's contract is set to expire and unless TNA and he come to terms on a new deal he will have made his last appearance for the company at this past Thursday's No Surrender special. AJ Styles, who has been TNA's homegrown poster boy since it began, is only working on an extension that will expire in December of 2013. Not to mention Hulk Hogan and Sting are both nearing the end of their deals with TNA and rumors have already begun about the possiblity of the two legends being WWE bound. Not to mention the releases and departures that have preceded these. TNA's roster is becoming thinner as concerns rise and that can't be a coincidence.
In the midst of all of these releases and losses which have already been linked to financial concerns in the company there is also talk of TNA taking Impact off the road. While these steps may be painful maybe there is a silver lining. Losing some of their major names may initially create a void but it gives TNA a chance to have new stars step up. Also going back to a single location for Impact tapings may be a step back but it would take a huge financial burden off of the company. Not saying that it is an immediate concern but losing TNA would be quite a loss to the wrestling community. It is an alternative to the WWE product for fans who have grown tired of the sports entertainment giant. It also provides employment and exposure for a lot of talent that might not have it otherwise. While this may not be the death knell for TNA is obviously a continuing and growing concern.
