In the wake of 'SummerSlam' WWE has changed the title picture and shifted to the new feud between "the face of WWE" Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan. That match will certainly be the centerpiece of 'Night of Champions' on Sunday but we will take a look first at the under card matches for the next WWE pay-per-view.
Divas Championship (Fatale 4-way Match)
AJ Lee (C) vs Brie Bella vs Naomi vs Natayla
AJ has done a phenomenal job bringing some interest back to the Divas division but now the, "Total Divas", have her in their cross-hairs. While they may have a common enemy don't underestimate their individual desires to be the champion. Look for AJ to capitalize on arguing and a breakdown between the other three and sneak away with the win.
As much as this match is a set-up for the mid-season finale of "Total Divas" and having Natayla capture the title, I tend to agree with Sean that the inner turmoil of the cast members will allow AJ to sneak away with the Butterfly emblazoned championship.
WWE Tag-Team Championship
Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns (C) vs winners of Tag-Team Turmoil Match
At this point it is very difficult to bet against anyone who has linked themselves with Triple H. Not to mention The Shield's penchant for 3 on 2 situations has always been a factor. The Primetime Players may well be the team to take the titles off The Shield…but not yet. The Shield wins and continues their allied dominance of the WWE with Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Randy Orton.
While The Real Americans are the most formidable opponents of all the teams that should emerge from tag-team turmoil they won't capture the gold as the "Corporation" aspect of The Shield with Triple H and Randy Orton needs to play on for awhile.
United States Championship
Dean Ambrose (C) vs Dolph Ziggler
As good as this match should be it still feels like a step back for Ziggler. There have been rumors circulating he is catching heat behind the scenes for speaking his mind during the SummerSlam promotional tour but this could just as easily be what they were already planning for him. Ziggler is another of the superstars who have been targeted by the new Corporation and will most likely be there when Triple H and his cronies get there comeuppance but it just doesn't seem like it will be this night. Expect a Shield run in and a Dean Ambrose win to retain the United States Championship.
Agreed with my fellow writer, that this would be a nice "comeback" victory for Ziggler, but since he has been getting squashed by Ryback and Bray Wyatt, don't expect and title change to occur here either.
Tag-Team Turmoil (Kick-Off Match)
The Primetime Players (Young and O'Neil) vs The Usos vs Tons of Funk vs The Real Americans (Swagger and Cesaro) vs 3MB (Slater, McIntyre and Mahal)
The fact is that Darren Young is in the WWE's good graces for all the publicity he has brought them. He and Titus have been featured well and picked up some good wins since then. None of the other teams really seem like they would have the potential for that next step except maybe The Usos but we have been down that road already. The Primetime Players look poised to win this match and go on to face The Shield later in the evening for the tag titles.
The team that is not included in this match, The Wyatt Family, are the ones who may make an appearance and help decide who comes out on top here. The Real Americans would be the team that could give The Shield all they could handle so I give them the nod here.
