Christian York finally got the chance to talk about his release from TNA Wrestling in July, speaking about the circumstances surrounding the release with Chad Dukes. York told Dukes that TNA was in the midst of making budget cuts and unfortunately he ended up being one of the wrestlers on the chopping block. Christian York also touched on possibly moving more towards training aspiring wrestlers at some point.
Christian York was released by TNA Wrestling in July, just one of many cuts made by the company as it continues to try to compete in the world of professional wrestling. York was among a list of cuts that included Matt Morgan, Madison Rayne and D-Lo Brown. York first appeared on TNA on November 1 of last year in a Gut Check match. The judges unanimously voted to award him with a contract. He squared off with the likes of Jeff Hardy and Rob Van Dam, amongst others, over the course of his time with TNA. York might have been cut, but these autographed photos of Brooke Adams are a cut above!
"I don’t know if I’d say I didn’t get a fair shake, I don’t think I got to live up to the potential that I think I have. I think maybe in the beginning they were just testing the waters with me to see if I could get over. I really have no idea because I never got any feedback."
Christian York felt like he was consistently putting on good showings, but went on to say he was just grateful for the opportunity the promotion afforded him. His former tag team partner, Joey Mercury, now spends his time training wrestlers. York expressed interest but told Chad Dukes that he hasn't pursued that road at this point:
"Maybe, We haven't really talked about it but I mean that would be interesting to do."
York did admit that coming from TNA could be a detriment to becoming a trainer, as knowing the ins and outs of the WWE is preferred and things that fly in TNA and other promotions aren't as successful in the WWE.
