As we move into the Labor Day weekend and the unofficial end of Summer, things seem to be continuing at a decent pace in the world of professional wrestling/sports entertainment. WWE is already crafting their storylines towards 'Night of Champions' while TNA continues towards there October pay-per-view 'Bound for Glory.'
The main event for the WWE Championship at 'Night of Champions' was made Monday night on Raw as Daniel Bryan will challenge Randy Orton. The "new corporation" lead by Triple H, along with Orton and The Shield has been giving Daniel Bryan beat down after beat down and none of the other WWE Superstars are being allowed to help Bryan or face being fired by Triple H. The World Heavyweight Championship match has also been set for 'Night of Champions' as Alberto Del Rio willsquare off with Rob Van Dam and his new personal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriquez. Ricardo joined RVD after the beating Del Rio administered a few weeks back. CM Punk will face both Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel and his manager Paul Heyman in a handicap match at the pay-per-view as well.
The independent promotion known as Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) held there annual 'Battle of Los Angeles' event over the past two days and the WWE was apparently interested as they sent William Regal there to scout talent for NXT as reported here by WrestleZone.com. Speaking of independents ROH still has great wrestling action going on within their tag-team division. On September 7th when they debut in Birmingham, Alabama they will feature an "instant reward" match after the winner of a four corner survival match between the current champions Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish (reDRagon), Mike Posey and Corey Hollis (Alabama Attitude), ACH and Tadarius Thomas (Adrenaline Rush) and the team of Cedric Alexander and Caprice Coleman will get an ROH World Tag-Team title match immediately. However if the reDRagon wins, since they are the champions, they will get the rest of the night off.
On Thursday night September 12th, TNA will have yet another Impact Wrestling special as there former pay per view 'No Surrender' comes to SpikeTV "live" that night. The only match or matches announced will feature the final four participants in the 'Bound for Glory' series to find out who will win the series and face off against the reigning TNA World Champion Bully Ray at 'Bound for Glory.' Right now the top four in points are: Magnus (39), Austin Aries (35), Bobby Roode (34) and Jeff Hardy (31) with Christopher Daniels at 30 points, and AJ Styles at 29 points, on the outside looking in.
This past week we also saw the announced return to the ring of a legend in Jerry "The King" Lawler and a third generation wrestler, Ted DiBiase, announce that he is leaving WWE. As always anything is possible in the world of wrestling and we bring that to you here at WorldWrestling101.
