WWE presents there biggest event of the summer on Sunday August, 18th on pay-per-view with there annual 'SummerSlam' card. For part one of our two part writers roundtable we will delve into the "undercard" matches and then tomorrow will will feature our thoughts on the three biggest matches of the card.
Ring of Fire Match: Kane versus Bray Wyatt
Finally we get in the in ring debut of the "Eater of Worlds"….Bray Wyatt. If you haven't seen him on NXT then you will more than likely be pleasantly surprised to find out that Wyatt can not only cut an unbelievable promo but he can back it up in the ring. This won't be an extremely technical contest but it will give Wyatt a chance to shine on pay per view with a solid veteran in Kane. Plus it has been a while since we have seen a good spectacle match and those can at least usually create a good visual or moment for a show.
This will the debut match for Bray Wyatt in WWE, if you discount his run as Husky Harris, but in order for the Wyatt Family to become a three headed monster in there own right then he must win over the current big red monster.
This is odd because it seemed we would get these two as a singles match but all of a sudden it was just made into a mixed tag for some reason. It should be fun but the concern here is that Big E needs to get some wins under his belt that matter while Dolph really should get the win so he doesn't lose any momentum he has picked up since he turned baby face. After a fun contest and an AJ tantrum or two Dolph and Kaitlyn walk away victorious.
Cody Rhodes versus Damien Sandow
This has been an odd feud. It started well but then Cody started acting more like a jealous heel and less like a baby face. It was made worse this past week when Cody was on commentary during Sandow's match and he admitted he would have done the same thing Sandow did and couldn't come up with a reason for his behavior. Odd storytelling aside it has been nice to see these two step into singles roles and they will no doubt have a good match. With Sandow still carrying the briefcase expect Cody to get the win. However, this also leaves it open for Sandow to create his own big moment and cash in on Christian if he by chance wins the title
Cody Rhodes will definitely take down his former partner Damien Sandow, we just wish it had been for the MITB briefcase, so Rhodes could cash it in.
Natalya versus Brie Bella
Little to no effort has been out into this story. The divas division isn't in a great place right now. The only thing that seems to jump out is Brie picking up the win so the Bella's can still be perceived as the queen bees of the divas division.
I am not sure why this match was added to the pay-per-view with Natalya teaming up with Maria Menounos to take on Brie Bella and new diva Eva Marie at 'SummerSlam' Axxess. Expect Natalya to win this one.
It seems that The Shield have lost some of their luster since the Wyatt Family's arrival. It is hard to determine the direction of this match when RVD won his number one contender spot by winning a 20 man battle royal last week. That being said it is the US Championship and that seems to bounce around a lot. Dean Ambrose has a very chaotic style and RVD is downright fearless so this could be quite a collision but don't be surprised to see RVD crowned the new champion.
Despite the recent return of RVD and since Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns are not defending the tag-team titles, expect Dean Ambrose to defend his US title.
Don't forget that for part two on Saturday we will look at the two main title matches, the WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Championship as well as the personal feud between CM Punk and Brock Lesnar. 'SummerSlam' has shaped up quite nicely and should be an enjoyable card for the WWE Universe.
