As announced last month, KSW 43 will feature – amongst other things – a heavyweight title fight. Michal Andryszak was confirmed for the bout, but his opponent was not named.

Well, according to, his opponent will Sunderland’s Phil De Fries.

Michal “Longer” Andryszak vs. Phil “F-11” De Fries

One of the best heavyweights in the world, Michal Andryszak (20-6, 1NC) is on a streak that is impossible to be unimpressed by. “Longer” has won six-straight, all via first-round finish. Two of those wins come under the ACB banner, stopping UFC-veteran Tim Hague and dangerous Estonian; Denis Smoldarev.

However, his last two fights have taken place in the powerhouse promotion that is KSW. Taking out multi-time title-challenge Michal Kita in 74-seconds at KSW’s massive Colosseum show, Andryszak returned in December and knocked out former champion Fernando Rodrigues Jr. in just 26-seconds.

Phil De Fries (14-6, 1NC) enters his first KSW bout fighting for a world title. The Englishman, who has been putting in work in San Diego at the famed Alliance MMA, is one of the more well-traveled heavyweights around today. Having fought in the UFC, Bellator MMA, M-1 Global, and the Japanese-based IGF promotion.

De Fries picked up two big wins in the span of two months to close out 2017. Traveling to Russia in October and defeating Anton Vyazigin at M-1 Challenge 84 before taking out fellow UK-veteran James Thompson via first-round submission at Bellator 191 in December.

KSW 43 takes place at the beautiful Hala Stulecia in Wroclaw, Poland. The show will be headlined by Wroclaw’s Olympic hero; Damian Janikowski.

Newly-crowned welterweight champion Roberto Soldic makes the first defense of his title again two-division EFC title-holder Dricus Du Plessis.
