NBADraft.net is one of the many participants in mock drafts and this year they are picking the Wizards will pick up James McAdoo.
McAdoo is a 6'9" Junior Power Forward from University of North Carolina. At 230 pounds, he's considerably bigger than other prospect, DeAndre Daniels, but the scouting report lists a lot of holes that could be big problems.
Michael Visenberg states a limited shooting range, being ineffective from the midrange and points beyond. Visenberg also characterizes McAdoo as having a "lack of focus, discipline, motivation" that has plagued him as well as being a player with a lack of interior moves for a player his size.
McAdoo sounds like he's quite the project. His size is pretty ideal, especially in a long-term back up role for a fading Nene. It's possible McAdoo has the chops to turn into an athletic big with good post moves, look at DeAndre Jordan's development under Doc Rivers.
However, McAdoo sounds rough around the edges and are the Dynamic Duo of Randy Wittman and Ernie Grunfeld willing to take on another long term project? Otto Porter and Glen Rice Jr languished on the bench. The Wizards D League affiliations are drying up every day due to single affiliation.
The Wizards don't have the space to take on a rough project when the spots are too coveted.
