While we're used to seeing him shine on the field, he is now taking his talents off the field. Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins' new book, "Game Changer: Faith, Football, & Finding Your Way," went on sale today.
When asked about the book, Cousins stated, “It's not a biography, what it is is a book written to a 15-year-old Kirk Cousins saying ‘Here's what you're going to face over the next 10 years and here's what you need to know to make it through and make the kind of decisions that are going to be a blessing to you later in life.'”
The book is targeted for children 8-years and older and Cousins hopes his readers will view his book as a kind of guide rather than a autobiographical memoir. As a dedicated Christian and frequent public speaker, Cousins was drawn to the idea of writing his story in order to provide a more permanent form of inspiration for his fans. After working on the book for about a year, Cousins is thrilled to finally see his hard work put into action.
Cousins explained, "I speak [in] so many places to youth groups, and churches, I found that it was frustrating for me to go speak for 15 minutes and then leave, and I was never (able) to give the kids a resource to help them once I left,” he said. “This book is exactly that, that I can give to them when I leave, when I meet people. They hear one chapter when I talk, but then there's 12 or 13 more chapters they can go home and read. That's really the way I saw this book unfolding. It's been a lot of hard work. It's been about a year's worth of work to put it together.”
Published by Zonderkidz, the kids division of Zondervan Publishing, the book is available in bookstores as well as online at Amazon. While the 24-year old QB still has plenty of life to live, he hopes his book will be able to deliver his message and inspire readers through more than just his ability on the field.
