In what was more of a formality than anything else, the London Knights announced earlier today that Dale Hunter would resume his coaching duties behind the bench this fall.
Hunter resigned from his position with the Capitals on May 14 after a surprising playoff run that included the dethroning of the defending Stanley Cup Champions. He instilled a new defensive style in a run-and-gun team that will undoubtedly prove to be beneficial in the future, and held all players accountable.
Hunter takes over for his brother Mark, who coached the Knights to an OHL title in Dale's absence. Dale has been coaching the Knights since 2001, and his family has built practically a junior hockey empire in the Ontario town.
Words and phrases that should continue to live on in Washington
"It's a hockey play."
"He battled."
"Have fun."
