One trip scouting, two players scouted. How's that for efficiency? Last fall University of Texas made the trip to the Texas Gulf Coast to see two running backs in one evening. Deshaun Rawls and D'Onta Foreman of Texas City TX. These two are not exactly the names we are accustomed to seeing on all the big time recruiting lists but that could change by this time next year.
Deshaun Rawls size (5-9, 180) can only remind one of a young Barry Sanders. Rawls has the same low center of gravity and the ability to change directions quickly. Clocking a 4.5 forty in workouts, he has the break away speed when needed but makes his living with a quick first step and excellent vision in finding a crease in traffic. Starting for Texas City since his freshman year, he has gradually improved every year since. Last season he ran for over 1500 yards. Along with his speed and quickness, he has the genetics as his uncle is former University of Texas linebacker Everick Rawls.
6'0, 198 LB D'Onta Foreman has been putting up big numbers since his sophomore season. Besides catching the eye of Texas, he is also getting looks from Alabama, Baylor, Florida, Houston , LSU, and Texas A&M. Considered a strong runner , he has the 4.4 speed to get to the corner and turn up field quickly.
