The Tennessee Titans are amongst the shuffle in management this offseason, announcing earlier this week that Chief Operating Officer Mike Reinfeldt will be fired. Head Coach Mike Munchak will be sticking around however, as owner Bud Adams feels he is right for the job.

Adams now wants to focus on putting the right people in place around Munchak to allow him propel the team towards success. Through free agency, and with the eighth overall pick the the 2013 NFL Draft, the Titans will need to bring in some play makers that help spark a winning mentality in Tennessee.

Reinfeldt was the senior executive vice president for the Titans who played a strong role in the franchise as the chief of personnel and served as the General Manager from 2007 until 2012. Current GM Ruston Webster will step into his position temporarily.

Mike Munchak has had tremendous support from Adams since he was hired two years ago, and with Adams at the age of 90, he doesn't have time to keep making changes.  He's putting his faith in Munchak that he can turn around the franchise. He is just 15-17 in his two seasons with the Titans and has missed the playoffs both years.

Chris Johnson Listed as Questionable Sunday Against Jaguars

December 30th, 2012 at 11:44 AM
By Ethan Rees

Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson has been held out of practice most of the week with an ankle injury, but has said he will be on the field Sunday. Johnson saw some action in practice Friday and he felt as though he is good enough to give it a go, although the team is not as convinced enough to guarantee he will play until they see him around game time.

An AFC South division game will wrap up the season for both the Jaguars and the Titans, as they sit with 2-13 and 5-10 records respectively. One of those two wins for Jacksonville did come against the Titans back in week 12 though. Both teams will likely be in the top ten of the upcoming draft regardless of a win or a loss, so they want to fight it out together and show what they are made of in the final week of their season.

News has also surfaced that General Manager Gene Smith will be fired.  Head coach Mike Mularkey will also be on the hot seat, as the new GM will have the chance to decide whether or not to retain him for the future.

Tennessee Titans Prepare for Cold at Lambeau

December 21st, 2012 at 4:04 PM
By Ethan Rees

The Tennessee Titans spoiled the New York Jets season on Monday night in the 14-10 win.  This week the Titans have a chance to prevent the Green Bay Packers from a shot at home field advantage. Now at 5-9 overall, Tennessee will look to gain some knowledge about their roster in the final two weeks of the season, as they will not be in the postseason for the fourth straight season.

It was in 2008 when they last made the playoffs, losing in the divisional round to the Ravens, 13-10.

Green Bay (10-4) sit two games back of the Falcons, who have yet to clinch home field advantage in the postseason. After struggling early in the season, Rodgers and the Packers have returned to form and have won 8-of-9 games. Their offense managed to escape the rut they were in and have dominated most of the season.

The Titans had an electrifying win Monday night, although they were just playing a spoiler role. Everyone in the franchise should be fairly disappointed with the outcome this season. While they did take their share of injuries, the talent on the team indicated a more successful season.

Chris Johnson Tops 1,000 for Fifth Straight Year

December 17th, 2012 at 5:32 PM
By Ethan Rees

The Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson topped 1,000 on the season, the fifth straight year Johnson has broken the thousand yard mark to start his career.

Johnson went over 1,000 last season in the final game of the season with 61 yards against the Texans.  This year he got there in week 14 with 44 yards against the Colts. After struggling early in the the season, and in the past few weeks, Johnson has managed to average 79.8 yards per game on the ground.

The highlight of the season was his 195 yard outbreak against the Bills where he scored his first two touchdowns of the year.

Johnson is crucial part of the Titans offense and the franchise needs more consistency out of their star.  He rushed for 2,000 yards just 3 years ago, but now he has rushed for less than 50 yards in five games this season and only four games over 100 yards.

He will be earning $10 million next year after the new deal he signed with the Titans last year. Johnson and the franchise have shown frustration at times with each other this season and the play on the field has not been there as much as the Titans would like.  The signed him thinking he could be atop league rankings year in and year out.

Tennessee Titans Pre-game Notes: Indianapolis Colts

December 9th, 2012 at 9:44 AM
By Ethan Rees

The Tennessee Titans have been slowly falling out of playoff contention, dropping to 4-8 after back-to-back losses against the Jaguars and Texans. After losing to the Colts, 19-13, in week eight, the Titans have a chance to get some revenge.

Injuries

Jake Locker will be behind center again, as he still has yet to find rhythm after coming back from the shoulder injury. He has thrown for 570 yards in the last two games, but has been intercepted five times with only two touchdown completions.

Linebacker Colin McCarthy will be out again this week with a concussion after going through limited practice this week.  Wide out Damian Williams will also be out with a hamstring injury.  The Titans then activated receiver Michael Preston from the practice squad to fill out the depth at the position.

Mike Otto will be starting in place of David Stewart, who will be out the rest of the year with a broken leg. The Titans have more issues on the line this week with guard Steve Hutchinson out with a knee problem, and tackle Michael Roos listed as questionable. Roos did participate in practice yesterday which looks promising, but if he is out it would be the first time in his career, and would break his 123 game start streak.
