This season, Barber made the switch to free safety and his great play is being recognized by the fans.
The NFL gave an update Wednesday on the status of the fan voting thus far and Barber is currently the front-runner among NFC free safeties. Barber, 37, last went to the Pro Bowl in 2008.
In nine games so far this season, Barber has three interceptions, including one that he returned 78 yards for a touchdown. The NFL's Iron Man also has 50 tackles, 1.0 sack, one forced fumble, and 11 passes defensed.
But Barber isn't the only Buccaneer that deserves a trip to Hawaii.
On defense, rookie linebacker Lavonte David is playing fantastic football and has 81 tackles so far. Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has 18 tackles, 3.0 sacks, and one forced fumble, and he's been a major reason why Tampa Bay has the league's best rush defense.
Offensively, rookie running back Doug Martin ranks third in the NFL in rushing with 862 yards and seven touchdowns. Wide receiver Vincent Jackson leads all receivers with an average of 21.4 yards per catch, has 769 receiving yards, and he's scored six touchdowns. Quarterback Josh Freeman has thrown 18 touchdowns to just five interceptions. And fullback Erik Lorig leads all NFC fullbacks in receptions and has done a fantastic job blocking for Martin.
