BUCCANEERS 101

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been going through a young movement for a few seasons now. In addition to that, if new head coach Greg Schiano doesn't think any of his players are buying into the "Buccaneer way" then they are quickly shown the door.

While some of players the Bucs got rid of seemed questionable during the time, it seems as though they made the correct call on most of their former players.

It hasn't been a good week for you if you are a player that wore pewter and red in 2011. See what has become of a few former Bucs:

Tight end Kellen Winslow was traded to the Seattle Seahawks just a few months ago after he started to disagree with the way Schiano handled his practices. Now, Winslow is without a job. The Seahawks waived Winlsow on Saturday after he reportedly refused a pay cut. In just three seasons, Winslow has gone for the NFL's highest-paid tight end to the unemployment line.

Less than a year after giving safety Tanard Jackson a one-year contract extension, the Bucs released him earlier this offseason. It was a smart move too, because Jackson was recently suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse program. Again. Because this is his third violation, Jackson has to wait at least one full year before he is eligable for reinstatement. Even then, there is no guarantee that he will be let back into the league. With his history, Jackson will likely never play another down in the NFL again.

Josh Johnson, who backed up Josh Freeman the past several seasons, left via free agency and signed with San Francisco 49ers and head coach Jim Harbaugh. He played for Harbaugh in college and rejoined him in hopes of landing the No. 2 job behind Alex Smith. Johnson didn't last long however, and was released recently.

Former dime back Elbert Mack signed with the division rival New Orlean Saints this offseason. Mack initially made the final 53-man roster, but was released in order to make room for former South Florida cornerback Jerome Murphy.

Sean Jones was Tampa Bay's starting safety for the past two seasons, but he was not re-signed this offseason. He wound up signing with the Detroit Lions, but his time there was short-lived. Jones was released by the Lions last week.

The Bucs traded defensive tackle Brian Price to the Chicago Bears back in July, but he may be jobless very soon. Price has not played well with his new team and reports say he could be released since the Bears signed Amobe Okoye, who was let go by Tampa Bay just a few days ago.
