2. Defensive End Lee Roy Selmon: Played nine seasons for the Buccaneers from 1976 to 1984. A tremendous player and an even better man. Selmon was Tampa Bay's first ever draft pick, the first player inducted into the Bucs' Ring of Honor, and the franchise's only player in the Hall of Fame.

Why is Selmon No. 2?
The former No. 1 overall pick in the '76 Draft is probably the most renowned player in Tampa Bay history and certainly the best player the Bucs had during their early years. Selmon was a dominant force off the edge and terrorized opposing quarterbacks. He was a six-time Pro Bowler, a five-time All-Pro (three times First-Team, two times Second-Team), a member of the NFL 1980s All-Decade Team, and was the 1979 NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

 

Selmon's Legacy With The Buccaneers:
It's simple; many call Selmon "Mr. Buccaneer." That's how good he was. He has an Expressway and a chain of restaurants named after him here in the Bay area. The Bucs struggled greatly during their first few years in the NFL, but Selmon was one of the few bright spots.

Selmon's name is all over Tampa Bay's record books. He amassed 78.5 sacks, which is the most in Bucs history. Selmon also recorded 742 tackles (seventh in team history) and started 117 games (eighth in team history).

Before his surprising death to a stroke at age 56 in 2011, Selmon was honored by the Bucs during the 2009 season as the first member inducted into the team's Ring of Honor. And after 36 years of Buccaneers football, Selmon is still currently the only Buc in the Hall of Fame.
