We told you it could happen, but even we didn't see the St. Louis Rams dominating the Indianapolis Colts the way they did Sunday. St. Louis scored every which way en route to a 38-8 drubbing of the homestanding Colts.
Tavon Austin was the star of the game recording three of the Rams five touchdowns. His first came on an electrifying 98 yard punt return. Austin waved away his teammates from a Pat McAfee punt that appeared headed out of bounds or for the end zone. Instead, Austin scooped it up and jetted down the sideline for the score.
Austin would beat veteran corner Vontae Davis twice for touchdowns of 57 and 81 yards. The latter score came on the opening possession of the second half and put the Rams up 35-0, effectively sealing the game.
The Rams defense was in Andrew Luck's face all day long. St. Louis sacked Luck three times and forced him into three interceptions. Luck also lost a fumble under pressure that Chris Long returned for the Rams' opening score. This was by far Luck's poorest performance of 2013.
St. Louis heads into their bye week 4-6 and with a little momentum. The Chicago Bears will visit the Edward Jones Dome in two weeks.
