The Seattle Seahawks became the latest victim of Andrew Luck's fourth quarter magic Sunday when the second year quarterback prodigy led the Indianapolis Colts to a 34-28 come-from-behind victory. The Seattle loss brought them back to the pack in the NFC West as San Francisco, Arizona and St. Louis all recorded victories.
The Seahawks have only themselves to blame for their first loss of 2013. Despite outgaining the Colts by over 100 yards, a pair of turnovers and settling for field goals instead of touchdowns sealed Seattle's fate. Marshawn Lynch topped 100 yards on the ground, but didn't find the end zone. Russell Wilson wasn't sharp at all, completing fewer than 50 per cent of his passes.
Seattle returns home to finish their four week odyssey through the AFC South, hosting the Tennessee Titans.
The San Francisco 49ers crept to within a game of Seattle with a 34-3 smackdown of the Houston Texans. The Niners defense pressured Matt Schaub into four picks, including one on Houston's first drive that was returned for a score. The Niners never looked back.
Colin Kaepernick was less than stellar, completing only six of 15 passes for a paltry 113 yards, 64 of which came on his only touchdown pass of the day to Vernon Davis. He didn't turn the ball over though as the Niners cashed in on Houston's sloppy play.
San Francisco will travel this week for a divisional clash with the surprisingly 3-2 Arizona Cardinals, who pulled away from the Carolina Panthers late, winning 22-6.
Carolina went to the locker room up 6-3, but the Cardinals' defense wouldn't permit any more scoring in the second half. Cam Newton had a horrible day in the desert, throwing three picks, losing a fumble and taking a safety. Who'd have guessed that Bruce Arians would have the Cardinals poised to take sole possession of second place in the NFC West with a win against San Francisco on Sunday?
