Robert Quinn has already begun to fulfill his expectations as a pass rusher when the St. Louis Rams made him their first round draft choice in 2011. With he and Chris Long as bookend pass rushers, the Rams have one of the most formidable tandems in the NFL. Quinn has been working hard, however, to round out his game and not just be known as a quarterback killer. It's something his coaches have taken note of.
Defensive coordinator Tim Walton has seen Quinn become more adept at holding off blocks and setting the edge against the run.
"Obviously, you know he can rush the passer very well, but he plays hard and he works on his craft every day. With his athletic ability, his speed, and the way he practices, he’s just been getting better each day.”
“He’s improved with the run skills and techniques, but I think he’s also improved as a pass rusher, too. So, he’s improved in both areas."
