Sharks camp reporting that Boyle was responsive and moving his extremities as he was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
San Jose Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle was carted off the ice on a stretcher after an illegal hit by St. Louis Blues center Maxim Lapierre early in the first period. Boyle was chasing the puck when Lapierre slammed him into the boards from behind. Boyle hit the glass and edge of the boards head first and remained on the ice, unable to move for several minutes as the Shark's medical crew attended to him.
Lapierre was issued a 5 minute major penalty, and his night was finished.
More updates on Boyle as we receive them.
