You knew he was good, but did you know that 19-year old phenom Tomas Hertl would be dominant in the Sharks 4-1 win over the Phoenix Coyotes? The Czech Republic native scored his first goal only 45 seconds into the opening period. After picking up the puck in the neutral zone, Hertl showed Phoenix what he was known for – exceptional puck handling and speed – as he blazed past the defensemen. Make no mistake, it was no cheapo. Goalie Mike Smith didn't see it coming.

After Oliver Ekman-Larsson received a 2:00 penalty for holding, Hertl caught a piece of a shot by Matt Irwin for his second goal of the night, making him the youngest player since Patrick Marleau to score two goals in a game for the Sharks. (Paddy hit the mark on March 17, 1999.)

Mind you, Hertl accomplished this all in the first period.

The Sharks hit the jackpot with Hertl. He's big, strong and has absolutely impeccable timing. If he continues to play with the fearlessness he has brought in his first two games, San Jose will continue to have success in the Pacific Division.
