Douglas Murray, former San Jose Sharks Defenseman, signed with the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. The deal is reportedly for a 1-year, 1-way contract worth $1.5 million, a pay cut from his $2.5 million according to TSN.
Once San Jose's most physical player, Swedish-born Murray was traded in March to the Pittsburgh Penguins for the second round picks in 2013 and 2014 drafts, respectively. Prior to the trade to Pittsburgh, Murray spent his entire career in San Jose, ranking 13th all-time on the Sharks in games played (451), posting six goals, 53 assists, 361 penalty minutes and a plus 32 rating.
He also appeared in 57 playoff games with San Jose, 11th most in franchise history, getting two goals and eight assists.
