The San Francisco Giants are struggling at the moment and saw their losing streak increase to five games on Wednesday afternoon, losing 7-6 to the Chicago White Sox and getting swept during the two-game series.
Tim Hudson had his worst start of the season, going 4.2 innings and allowing 12 hits and seven runs as he took the loss. His record now stands at 7-3 and the Giants had won his last five starts entering the game. They are 10-3 in his starts on the year.
The Giants are 1-8 in their last nine games and their lead in the National League West is now shrinking. The Giants are now 20-14 on the road, 13-13 in one-run games, 19-9 in day games and 16-6 in series finales.
The orange and black have Thursday off before beginning a three-game series in Arizona on Friday night against the Diamondbacks. They are 18-17 versus the NL West.
Speaking of Arizona, the Giants sent Angel Pagan there to get his back examined. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Pagan will undergo further tests in the Phoenix area. The center fielder underwent an MRI on his back and it revealed inflammation, but no structural damage. He remains day-to-day.
Jon Morosi of FOX Sports is reporting the Giants and Kansas City Royals each had a high-level scout in Miami on Tuesday night to evaluate Chicago Cubs pitcher Jeff Samardzija.
