The San Francisco Giants-Colorado Rockies game was suspended today in the bottom of the sixth due to rain with the score tied at 2 and the game will resume when the Giants visit Coors Field on Monday, September 1st.
Hunter Pence homered for the fifth time on the year during the game and has a nine-game hitting streak entering Friday night's contest. Pence is batting .410 in his last 10 games with 16 hits, three home runs and six RBI's.
During the Giants 5-1 win on Wednesday, the team suffered a pair of hamstring injuries to Matt Cain and Santiago Casilla. The team placed Casilla on the DL with a Grade 2 right hamstring strain and he will be out four weeks. Casilla is 1-1 with a 1.37 ERA in 22 games, allowing 18 hits, six runs, four earned runs, one home run, nine walks and one save in 26.1 innings. He is holding the opposition to a .205 batting average. The Giants recalled George Kontos from Triple-A Fresno.
Cain is day-to-day after a MRI revealed a Grade 1 strained right hamstring and he will get treatment for a couple of days. Cain left yesterday's game after three innings.
The Giants begin a six-game homestand Friday night against the Minnesota Twins followed by a three-game series versus the Chicago Cubs.
