Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News is reporting the San Francisco Giants have signed outfielder Tyler Colvin to a minor-league deal.

The deal is pending a physical and Colvin had a big-league deal in place before with the Baltimore Orioles before the club backed off, citing back issues after he took his physical.

The 28-year-old was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the first round (13th pick) of the 2006 amateur draft and made his Major League debut on September 21, 2009.

In his five seasons in the big leagues with the Cubs and Colorado Rockies from 2009-2013, Colvin has produced a .241 batting average with 259 hits, 47 home runs and 160 RBI's in 384 games.
