Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com is reporting the San Francisco Giants have informed starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong they will not be picking up his $6.5 million option for the 2014 season.
According to Baggarly, sources say the team and Vogelsong have begun talks on a restructured contract for a smaller guaranteed salary with incentives based on innings and/or starts.
In other news, Phillip Matier and Andrew Ross of the San Francisco Chronicle are reporting Major League Baseball would help the Oakland A's move across the bay and play their games at AT&T Park the next two seasons if Coliseum officials don't come to terms on a new short-term lease for the team. The A's would immediately begin playing in San Francisco next year and it would probably be the first step toward them moving out of the Bay Area. The Giants would have to give consent to sharing AT&T Park.
