The San Francisco Giants won 4-2 Friday night over the Los Angeles Dodgers and defeated Clayton Kershaw for the fifth time.
Lefties Madison Bumgarner and Kershaw locked arms as the Giants rallied from a 2-0 deficit to stun Kershaw and the Dodgers. It was the third time the Giants scored three runs or more off Kershaw in 21 starts.
Dionisio Soldevila of ESPNDeportes.com is reporting Giants general manager Brian Sabean and special assistant Felipe Alou are spending time in the Dominican Republic scouting first baseman Jose Dariel Abreu. The 26-year-old Cuban slugger will be a hot commodity during the offseason as teams will make a strong push to sign him. With the success of fellow Cubans Yasiel Puig and Yoenis Cespedes, look for Abreu to cash in. Abreu will need to be unblocked by the Office of Foreign Assets Control before being declared a free agent by MLB.
Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle is reporting the Giants and free agent Hunter Pence have begun "minimal" discussions on a long-term deal. The Giants have not yet reached out to free agent Tim Lincecum on a new deal, but the team has made it clear they want to re-sign him.
The Giants have exclusive negotiating rights with both players until five days after the World Series and Sabean plans to tender qualifying offers to both players. The offer qualifies the Giants would receive draft pick compensation should either player sign with another team.
