The Giants have 13 pitchers and manager Bruce Bochy said the lefty will be available out of the bullpen.

Giants reliever Jeremy Affeldt will start throwing soon and could be ready to pitch by September 1 after being placed on the DL with a left groin strain.

Angel Pagan will begin his rehab assignment with the Arizona Rookie League in Fresno and Bochy said he will play as much as possible when he returns.

After the Giants wrap up their seven-game homestand Sunday, they will begin a nine-game road trip Monday night against three National League West teams in the Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres. The Giants are 29-21 against the NL West this season.
