Major League Baseball has suspended San Francisco Giants pitcher George Kontos three games for throwing at Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen last night and Giants manager Bruce Bochy has been suspended one game. Bochy will serve his suspension tonight.

Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com is reporting Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro has what orthopedists call a "mallet finger", a deformity caused by tendon damage that leaves the patient unable to straighten the fingertip. Scutaro wants to keep playing but is running the risk of permanent damage to his left pinkie once his career is over.

Once the pain and swelling subsides in a few days, Scutaro could have surgery which would mean in an insertion of a pin or be placed in a splint. Both options would not work if Scutaro tries to play again.
