Former Charger Kevin Ellison finds himself in the criminal spotlight once again after allegedly setting fire to his apartment building in Liberty Lake Washington.
Kevin Ellison was drafted in the sixth round of the 2009 draft by the Chargers. His career looked promising after an impressive Junior year at USC. Making second team All-American and All PAC-10 honorable mention. Ellison's career looked to be a bright one in San Diego. However after just one year in San Diego, he was caught and arrested for having over 100 Vicodin painkillers in his vehicle. He was then waived by the Chargers and picked up by the Seattle Seahawks.
After for the most part staying out of the public eye, Ellison went to the Arena Football League to continue and revitalize his career.
On June 15th 2012, Ellison lit a marijuana filled cigarette and set his bed and apartment on fire. Sources say damages went over $50,000. Nobody was hurt as the police were able to evacuate the building in time.
The reason why he set the building on fire? Ellison told authorities that he was told by God to light the marijuana cigarette and set the building afire.
Ellison was arrested and now faces felony arson charges and his been suspended by the AFL.
"I think the investigation needs to play out, but if he truly did this, he's never coming back" Said majority owner of his current AFL team Spokane Shock Brady Nelson. Ellison had told Nelson the same story as he told the police.
