On one hand it is a positive for unrestricted free agent Arthur Moats, who is receiving the extra reps in his spot. Unfortunately, this may also be hindering his development as a backup inside linebacker. When you couple Worilds’ injury with the inability of rookie linebacker Jordan Zumwalt being unable to take part in OTAs due to an NCAA rule, it is a busy time for Moats.

When he was signed, the Steelers envisioned his versatility to be an asset at all four positions in their linebacker rotation. The former Buffalo Bills linebacker has experience both inside and outside, and was being looked upon to be the top reserve in the corps. At 6-2, 250-pounds, Moats has the ability to add depth to in three facets, two as a linebacker and one as a special teams standout. In 2012, he started 12-games at outside linebacker with the Bills, recording 48 tackles. For his career, he has recorded 141 tackles and five sacks.

In all, the 26-year old Moats is a four-year veteran out of James Madison. He entered the league as a sixth round selection (178 overall) in 2010.
