The Pittsburgh Steelers Opened their OTAs on Tuesday by announcing that they had signed two more draft choices in offensive tackle Wesley Johnson and linebacker Jordan Zumwalt. More importantly, they made it through the session without injury.undrafted rookie free agent tight end Eric Waters from Missouri. Waters would be considered a long shot to earn a spot after the Steelers added Rob Blanchflower to an already crowded tight end group via the draft.
While not known as a pass catcher (8-72-1 in 2013), he is an accomplished blocker and has experience in-line and as an H-back. However, he left scouts searching for answers to why after a tremendous pro day, where he recorded a 4.58 40-yard dash and caught every pass during receiving drills.
At 6-4, 245-pounds, he may lack the elite size for the traditional tight end role, but he is versatile and could add a hybrid dimension to the offense. At this point, he may have to battle Will Johnson for the fullback role in the offense if he is to make the roster.
