One of the best parts of the NFL off-season is the NFL Draft. With this years event now less than two days away, draft boards are being finalized and the directions a team may be looking are coming into focus. With the Pittsburgh Steelers, there are still some questions that must be answered.

As many already know, the Steelers were awarded three compensation picks in the 2014 draft. While those selections cannot be traded, they do give the team added flexibility heading into draft day. Of course, that sill does not change anything and as the draft inches closer, the idea of trading back in the first round makes a lot of sense considering the salary cap situation and the roster, but it also seems closer to a reality when you scan the prospects brought in for a visit.

This will be the final attempt of 2014 at projecting all seven rounds in a mock draft for the Steelers. As always, we would truly appreciate any and all feedback on this attempt at a mock draft or any of our articles at Steelers101. Round 1 – CB Kyle Fuller – Virginia Tech

Fuller is arguably the top corner in this class. And hits fits the Steelers system. He is a playmaker that can come it early in nickel and dime situations, and ease his way into the starters role.

Round 2 – TE Jace Amaro – Texas Tech

The Steelers flirted with the idea of Eric Ebron in the first round, but decide to grab a corner. Amaro may not be as athletic, but he is a hybrid tight end that can become a Red Zone weapon.

Round 3 (Compensation) – WR Dante Moncrief – Mississippi

The Steelers wait and add a potential number one wide receiver in the third round. Moncrief is a physical presence on the outside, and has some quiet big play abilities.

Round 4 – CB E.J. Gaines – Missouri

The Steelers could add another young cornerback to the mix and Gaines could be that player. A coach on the field, he has the ability to come in and compete day one and add solid depth to the position.

Round 5 – NT Daniel McCullers – Tennessee

The Steelers will likely add depth to their defensive line and grab McCullers. A mountain of a man, he has the ability to be a run stuffer and double team magnet.

Round 5 (Compensation) ––LB Jordan Zumwalt – UCLA

With the release of LaMarr Woodley and an overall lack of depth, the team may need to add to their linebacking corps. Zumwalt is a versatile defender that could come in and compete.

Round 6 – RB De’Anthony Thomas – Oregon

The Steelers are looking for an explosive compliment to running back Le’Veon Bell and Thomas is that player. Small but fast, he has the ability to take it to the house on every touch.

Round 6 (Compensation) OLB Prince Shembo – Notre Dame

The Steelers would like to add more depth to their linebacking corps and decide to grab a pass rusher. Shembo is raw, but he should have some time to develop.

Round 7 – DE Jeoffrey Pagan – Alabama

The Steelers close out the draft by adding depth to their defensive line. Pagan is coming from a pro-style defense and could add some depth to a thin unit.
