There is a very good possibility that the Pittsburgh Steelers will grab multiple defensive backs in the upcoming NFL Draft. While this class of cornerbacks may not be as deep as some others, there is some solid mid-to-late round talent that can be found.

One such cornerback is Duke defensive back Ross Cockrell, who has spent time with the Steelers on a pre-draft visit. At 6-0, 191-pounds, he plays bigger and more physical than his linear frame would indicate.

Best suited for zone schemes, as he lacks the elite top-end speed (4.56 40-yard dash) and fluidity called for in man-heavy defenses. However, what he lacks in pure athleticism, he makes up for with tremendous football acumen, and has been considered an extension of the coaching staff.

In the end, Cockrell is an intriguing prospect with solid hands and high football character. If the Steelers look to grab a cornerback in the fourth or fifth round, he could be a viable option.
