The Pittsburgh Steelers are going all out for this week against the Cincinnati Bengals, with all talk of potentially evaluating players for 2014 on Sunday already being discarded by head coach Mike Tomlin. Unfortunately, the injury situation may not support his desires in this game.Emmanuel Sanders, who may be entering his final games with the Steelers, was limited in practice with a foot injury. For the talented receiver and former third round selection, foot injuries has been part of his resume, and it is a situation that should be watched as game time nears.
The team did receive some good news as defensive end Ziggy Hood (ankle), offensive guard David DeCastro (foot), wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery (shoulder) and offensive tackles Kelvin Beachum (knee) and Marcus Gilbert ankle) were all full participants and will likely be probable for Sunday Night Football against the Bengals. The potential return of Beachum does create an interesting dilemma, as former starter Mike Adams played what is likely his best game at left tackle against the Miami Dolphins and should see more snaps as the team determines if he is the long-term solution at left tackle.
While those five returned as full participants, the same cannot be said about Defensive end Brett Keisel (foot), nose tackle Steve McLendon (ankle) and safety Troy Polamalu (shoulder), who were held out of practice with their injuries. Many expect McLendon and Polamalu to take part in practice on Friday and be ready to go against the talented Bengals’ offense on Sunday. However, the situation does not appear to be as bright for Keisel, who is struggling with his foot injury.
