The Pittsburgh Steelers (1-4) will take on their hated rivals the 3-3 Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon in a must-win game. Yes, it is only Week 7, but for both teams this AFC North battle is critical, as neither team can afford many more losses.
While it has been chronicled at length, the concussion suffered by rookie linebacker Jarvis Jones clouds the teams injury situation heading into the contest. At this point, Jones is listed as questionable on the weekly report and will likely be a game-time or at least a warm-up decision, if he passes all required concussion tests over the weekend. As of now, Jones did not take any reps with the defense or special teams units during the week, something that does not bode well for his availability.
Besides Jones being in question with injury, the Steelers have some other injuries of note. Newly acquired tight end Richard Gordon is on the shelf after injuring his toe. He will join wide receiver Markus Wheaton (pinkie) on the sideline on Sunday afternoon as the Steelers have already listed both as out on the weekend injury report.
While those two players are already out, there are some positives. Offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert (quad), defensive end Brett Keisel (ribs), tight end Heath Miller (not injury related) and outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley (knee) are all probable. All four of these starters will be needed if the team is to beat the Ravens this week.
