While Haley publicly stated he had not decided whether he was going to interview for the position late in the week, as he wanted to gauge their overall interest. It has been reported that he traveled to Arizona to interview for the position Wednesday, joining Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton, as candidates that have interviewed for the position.

Haley was offensive coordinator for the Cardinals in 2007 and 2008 before moving onto becoming the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009. While many players from those seasons have moved on, there is a familiarity with some of the key components on the offensive side of the ball.

Early in their coaching search, the Cardinals had hoped to interview Andy Reid quickly after firing Ken Whisenhunt, but Reid spurned the interview and quickly signed with the Kansas City Chiefs.
