It has been almost a month since Pittsburgh Steelers rookie nose tackle Alameda Ta'amu was arrested on multiple felony and misdemeanor for his drunken rampage in the South Side neighborhood in Pittsburgh and finally some clarity on the ramifications are coming to light. Today, the 22-year-old waived his preliminary hearing and will head to court for his transgressions.DUI.
The mammoth defensive lineman was originally arrested after he reportedly crashed into several other cars and fled the arresting officers after a night of drinking. Statements from the police verify that Ta’amu recorded a blood-alcohol content of 0.196 percent on the breathalyzer, over double the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
The rookie lineman apologized to the city via reporters covering the story today, and may attempt to reach a plea bargain before the arraignment. His Defense attorney, Robert Del Greco told reporters that Ta'amu is attempting to negotiate financial settlements to pay for the damage and injuries he caused and has started counseling for alcoholism.
