The Pittsburgh Pirates promoted right-hander Casey Sadler from Triple-A Indianapolis Sunday, sending Jared Hughes back down to the Indians.

The move was likely promoted by the need for a long relief pitcher, as Stolmy Pimentel was used extensively out of the bullpen after Francisco Liriano was pulled from yesterday's start.

For the season, Hughes had not not allowed a run in 2.1 innings of work. While in Triple-A, Sadler had a 1.67 ERA to go along with a 3-0 record in four starts, although he had just 16 strikeouts in 27 innings.

Sadler, 23, was drafted by the Pirates in the 25th round of the 2010 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Western Oklahoma State College. He stands at 6'4", weighs 215 lbs and is a native of Stillwater, OK.
