At 6:28 of the first period on Thursday night against the Winnipeg Jets, Sidney Crosby set up a Chris Kunitz goal to record his 1,000th career point in the NHL. Crosby became the 86th players in history to reach the 1,000 point mark in league history. [Pensburgh]

As an added bonus the Penguins put the cherry on top of a historic night with a big overtime win. Trailing 3-2 in the third period, Phil Kessel tied it at 3-3 with a top shelf wrister on the power play. Regulation ended with the teams knotted at three and in a chaotic overtime it was Crosby who put an exclamation point on his banner night with the overtime winner to end the game and give the Pens a 4-3 victory.
