The Philadelphia Phillies have acquired more bullpen help. Just a day after trading Erik Kratz and Rob Rasmussen to the Toronto Blue Jays for reliever Brad Lincoln, the Phillies have signed right-handed reliever Jeff Manship to a minor-league deal that includes an invitation to Spring Training.

Manship, who is 28 years old, made his Major League debut with the Minnesota Twins in 2009, and spent four seasons in the Twins' organization, bouncing between the minors and the big squad. In 2013, he was signed by the Colorado Rockies, and made four starts for the team, along with seven relief appearances. He did not put up good numbers, amassing an 0-5 record with a 7.01 ERA, 18 strikeouts, and 12 walks over 30 and 2/3 innings.

His contract will likely have him start the year at the Double-A or Triple-A level if the team doesn't decide to cut him after Spring Training. However, he does have more experience than some of the pitching prospects in the Phillies' organization, which may help his case after Spring Training ends.

Meanwhile, the Phillies officially announced that catcher Wil Nieves has agreed to a one-year deal. Phillies 101 reported on Wednesday that the 36-year old journeyman would be signing with the Phillies.
