Kevin Frandsen will be a Phillie once again in 2014. Frandsen and the Philadelphia Phillies reached a one-year deal worth $900,000 to keep the veteran infielder in Philadelphia.

Throughout the 2013 season, Frandsen often came off the bench or was a pinch-hitter, although he did see a few more starts in the second half of the season due to injuries in the infield. Frandsen had his share of clutch pinch-hits last year, but his numbers were not staggering. He appeared in 119 games in 2013 consisting of 278 plate appearances, batting .234 with 5 home runs and 26 RBI along with 12 walks.

In pinch-hit situations last season, Frandsen went 14 for 56 for a .250 average. He also had the third most pinch hit at-bats in the majors while leading the National League in total pinch hits. While Frandsen offered some pop off the bench, his defense was also very impressive at times. Most of his action in 2013 was at first or third base, although he filled in at second base in a few games.

In a related bit of news, the Phillies tendered contracts to all of their arbitration-eligible players before the December 1st arbitration deadline. This includes Frandsen, who is the only Phillie to agree to a contract as of yet. Ben Revere, John Mayberry Jr., Kyle Kendrick and Antonio Bastardo were all tendered contracts.
