Good news for the Philadelphia Phillies – outfielder Domonic Brown's Achilles injury is not serious. Brown underwent an MRI Monday, and will be cleared to pinch-hit in Monday night's game against the visiting Washington Nationals. His condition has been diagnosed as mild tendonitis.
Brown is having a breakout season in 2013, batting .274 with 27 home runs and 81 RBI. Easily the Phillies most productive power hitter, Brown will likely be a major part of the Phillies offense for years to come.
For the last few weeks, Brown has been in and out of the lineup with the same sore Achilles. The Phillies will likely be cautious with using Brown as a starter, at least for the next few games. Again, he will not start Monday night's game, but will be available to pinch hit.
The Phillies and Nationals do battle in the first of a three game series from Citizens Bank Park at 7:05 tonight. Stephen Strasburg and Cole Hamels will face off on the mound.
