As I watch game two of the Philadelphia Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays double header today, I thought it would be a good time to review game one.

Tampa Bay Rays David Price was on his game, and Cole Hamels was even better. It didn’t matter, though. Charlie Manuel pulled Hamels after seven innings and put Antonio Bastardo on the mound. Bastardo promptly gave up two walks and a Carlos Pena home run to take the loss.

As always, here’s your box score:

Jimmy Rollins: 3 for 5, 1 R, 1 RBI – Rollins continues to play hot. He hit a homerun and reached base two other times. If he can stay hot and Chase Utley makes his way back this week, the top of the order could be a lot better by month’s end.

Shane Victorino: 0 for 4, 1 BB, 1 K

Hunter Pence: 2 for 5, 1 R, 3 K – Three strikeouts, Hunter? Come on. A little better discipline. Pence’s batting average has dropped to .273 and he could be hitting better.

Carlos Ruiz: 1 for 3, 1 BB, 1 K

Ty Wigginton: 1 for 4, 1 RBI, 1 K – I stand by the thought that John Mayberry Jr. should be hitting and playing in this spot.

John Mayberry Jr.: 0 for 3, 1 K – You’re making me look bad, John.

Hector Luna: 1 for 3, 1 K

Jim Thome (PH): 0 for 0, 1 BB

Michael Martinez: 0 for 4, 1 K – Martinez is hitting a paltry .136 right now. Chase is supposed to be back within a week. Thank God.

Cole Hamels: 0 for 2, 1 K

           Placido Polanco (PH-3B): 0 for 1, 1 BB

Game two is entering the third inning. Stay tuned to see if Cliff Lee can get his first win. He’s going to need some help.
